NMC CPD courses and requirements

Nurses, midwives and nursing associates revalidate every three years. Revalidation includes 35 hours of CPD, of which at least 20 must be participatory learning, plus practice hours, feedback, reflection and a reflective discussion.

What the NMC expects

  • 35 hours of CPD every three years, at least 20 of them participatory
  • 450 practice hours (900 if renewing as both a nurse and a midwife)
  • Five pieces of practice-related feedback and five written reflective accounts
  • A reflective discussion and confirmation by another registrant
